John Muller

Growing up in a family of generations of artists, John was exposed to and tutored by artists at a very young age. Studying drawing and painting through adolescence led John to Paris and Rome where he continued to explore different mediums while working primarily in commissioned portraiture. Later, while traveling and spending time in forty countries, he concentrated his art on depicting local peoples, street scenes and cultures. 

After years of creating commissioned art, he moved toward wood sculpture. By altering his sculptures to become more functional pieces, he was able to transition it into a line of functional art and furniture. In the year 2000, along with Lorna Lee, he started Lorna Lee John Muller Designs, a successful design company featuring high end, handmade, custom furnishings and furniture based in New York.Lorna Lee John Muller Designs is known for their sense of proportion, sculptural forms and for their unique hand finishes.

Being continually called upon to provide commissioned artwork to complement their furniture designs and style, John also offers his unique, heavily textured oil paintings. Intrigued by the vast possibilities of oil paint, John employs these properties in the deep textures and transparency of his work.
