Description
Kathy Goodell’s works are rooted in an exploration of both personal and universal complexities. Her studio practice is a space for ritual and experimentation, where she works on the floor with canvas tarps. This allows the paintings to appear free of gravity’s influence, as she is able to work from all four sides without moving the piece physically. Her work deals with the continuous process of burying and revealing emotions. The paint’s texture and movement on the surface become an expressive language for her thoughts and feelings. Goodell begins each piece without a fixed plan, trusting that the first placement of paint will mark the true moment of creation, setting the tone for the work’s evolution.
