Coiled Vase

Description
The Coiled Vase is an exploration of time and space by artist Philip M Soucy. Each vase is made by hand through a rhythmic process of rolling clay coils and layering them, allowing each coil to stack naturally on top of the previous one to create intuitive structures. The coils are left unsmoothed, drawing focus to the material’s natural textures and adding to the organic construction of each vessel. The final forms which emerge evoke landscapes and layers of sediment that have been shaped by time throughout eons.
