Description
Helen Booth’s recent work, created in subzero temperatures in Iceland, uses graphite, charcoal, liquid inks and found materials like sand, basalt and snow on raw canvas to distill her marks into their purest forms while retaining her emotional response, inspiring further studio creations. Created over a long period, each work involves moments of active painting and stretches of waiting for the oil to dry, an essential component of Booth’s process that calls for retrospection and meditation, slowly progressing to the natural rhythm of time.

Artist
Helen Booth
Helen Booth’s paintings explore the potential of a single dot, which is arranged in patterns with a meditative quality. Booth combines seemingly random dot formations with straight and dynamic lines to suggest the interplay between chaos and structure in the world.
