CONRAD

Ever since CONRAD introduced a new standard of luxury to handwoven, natural fiber window coverings over 60 years ago, it has remained at the forefront of style, sustainability, craftsmanship and service.
Edie Conrad, a former bookkeeper for legendary interior designer Michael Taylor, first developed the line in 1956. The CONRAD Original Sunshade was an instant success with notable designers of the day. Today, CONRAD continues to be the purveyor of choice for the world’s most discerning designers and architects.

To this day, each shade is individually handwoven to order from select sustainably grown and renewable natural grasses, reeds and fibers. It can take a full week to make just one piece, which is done by hand on traditional, not mechanized looms. Local artisans are involved in every step of the process, which not only ensures a superior product, it keeps a historical craft very much alive, and has created self-sufficient and economically viable communities of artisans in CONRAD’s craft locations in southeast Asia.
With over 100 unique weave designs and extensive custom workroom capabilities, CONRAD is proud to offer designers the creative freedom to dream, carrying forward a tradition of service as partners, ready to listen, advise, assist and bring each singular vision to life.
