Barbara Hirsch

Barbara Hirsch, originally from Birmingham, Alabama, is currently living in Aspen, Colorado. She holds a BFA from The Ohio State University. Her evolving body of work since the 1960s is diverse in both technique and tone.

Most recently, Hirsch’s use of textural encaustics infused with oils complements her earlier whimsical impressionistic style. She continues to fearlessly push the boundaries of her craft by experimenting with various encaustic methods through manipulating wax and found objects that inspire her modern style. Hirsch’s visionary accomplishments have created a compelling narrative of color, imagery and composition for more than 40 years.
